Eliza Bloom Robinson, in her book Falling into Ease (accessed June 26, 2017 in Kindle Books) tells us that besides the usual adage that fear is “False Evidence Seeming Real,” there is another anacronym that says “Frequency of Energy Altering Our Reality,”


In Unity, we believe that we are what we think. Most of us carry fear that we do not even know we are carrying it. This is because it is a part of our race consciousness.


Race consciousness is partly Jung’s collective unconsciousness, and the sum of all our learning during our life time.


Think about this, we are afraid of lack, health problem, the situation in Washington DC, the world of terrorism, etc. These things do create fear at a visceral level. We may think we are angry, but anger is a form of fear. Psychologists have demonstrated this fact.


Also, there are other things that create fear. Some of these are innate, such as hearing unusual sounds at night, or seeing a wild animal coming at you. This fear is a reaction of the amygdala area of the brain that signals the activation of a fight or flight syndrome. But worry and fear of lack, or ill health are learned.


We do not need to live in this learned fear. It is an illusion, created by our mind from those around us during our lives until now. But it doesn’t have to be.


Proverbs 23:7 tells us that what we think is what we are. But Jesus tells us that we can do the works he did and more (John14:12) and that With God all things are possible. (Matt 19:26). So, if we change our thinking and turn inward to our Christ, we can change our lives, and live artificial fear free.


So, what are some of the things we believe in the subjective realm?


Do you think you are unworthy, you are not loveable, you are broken, life is hard, and the world is going to hell?


Eliza Bloom Robinson tells us also in “Falling into Ease,” that we can substitute thoughts such as  I am worthy, I am loveable, I am a success, I love money and money loves me, I am one with my inner Christ, I can have all I want.


She goes on to tell us that “there are three ways to change our consciousness: first is through emotional trauma, secondly repetition, and lastly a quantum shift.


The second one is what I want to talk about today. Repetition, in Unity. Is our affirmations. Notice that the above positive statements about yourself start with I AM. When you say, “I AM,” you speak from your Christ which is your connection to the God-Mind. Remember that God told  Moses his name was I Am.


One of the Twelve Powers of Man (The Twelve Powers of Man, by Charles Fillmore and Cora Fillmore, Unity Books, Unity Village, 1999) is  the power of the word. It’s located in the throat in the voice box. John 1:1 tells us that “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” We are made in the image and likeness of God, therefore the Word is in us, we are with God, and we are God.”


Before you go off on me, let me explain that last statement. God is all there is. Nothing exists outside of God. Therefore, we are God. Doesn’t that make logical sense? Additionally, God is Good, and if God is good, there is no reality to evil or sin. So, once again being made in the image and likeness of God, we cannot he bad, or evil. Even Hitler was good on the inside. He acted out of his Adam.


Remember that Adam and Eve, according to the story about the Garden Of Eden, fell from grace. They LEARNED the difference of Good and Evil, an had free choice. So, as humans, we have the freedom to choose. Hitler chose to act in an evil manner. As have all those people who do commit what we consider evil things. As an aside, we need to recognize the Christ in them, and honor that, while we disapprove of their actions.


Ok, back to changing your thinking though affirmations. When we repeatedly repeat the same affirmation, and do it with emotion and faith that that affirmation is already true in God, we will start to believe that in our subconscious mind.  That’s how we learned our habits.


Two weeks ago, I wrote about Emmett Fox’s “Seven Day Mental Diet” in which you think ONLY positive, true thoughts for a week. That is a good example of repetition of affirmations.


If you follow that “diet” faithfully for a week, you are on the road to changing your thinking. Thus, we know it works.


I have counselled a person who has been into many ways to change. The person has not yet fully accepted that they are loveable, perfect, and the image of God.


Here is Liza Bloom Robinson’s exercise to eliminating fear.


“Feel te fear and do anyway. In the moment that we fully feel our fear, we are freed from it, We can being to embody a greater point of attraction. Relax into the resistance. Relax and begin to welcome the fear. Relax your body, relax your mind. Imagine you are letting to of the grip you have on fear, and it is being freed from you to go about its merry way. Imagine that it slides right off of you, as you relax. Discover it was you holding it, not it holding you. Being to cultivate a welcoming of fear. When you can be with it, you no longer have to resist it, buy into it, try to change or have to be different. Be with the fear you feel. Relax even more deeply now. Who would you be without fear? Be that person. What would you do without the fear holding you back? Do that think.”


When   you      accept your fear and recognize it, it loses its power over you.
